The Misanthrope

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This assignment was part of the Directing Classical Drama course, in conjunction with a Seminar in Classical Drama.  Students were instructed to cut a selection from a play by Moliere and build a distinct stylistic world for the production for the university’s Workshop Series.

The scene was performed in a modified thrust space and featured stylistically appropriate direction, design, costumes, lighting, and properties without a budget.  Each director cast their scene from the available undergraduate students at Baylor University, and was allotted 18 rehearsals that could not exceed two hours over a span of three weeks.
